I was talking to the Okuma tech today on my Okuma 511V with Fanuc 18 controller about the memory, we have like 30k on it, and he said it's just a parameter setting to increase it. Does anyone know what parameter it is? Thanks!

Some options require a hardware addition also, but the 18 is P9921:
Bit#0 = 640m
Bit#1 = 320m
Bit#2 = 160m
Bit#3 = 80m
Bit#4 = 40m

Normally only one of the memory bits is set, the only thing I can think is you do not have the physical memory present, the option only enables it, you may want to contact Tulip Memory, they sell expansions for Fanuc mem and may be able to advise you if you need hardware as well.

I'm pretty sure (90%) that going from 80m to 160m will require at least an ~0351 module. The ~0352 module is the biggest module fanuc has for the 18 series. I don't think they (fanuc) will sell you one unless it's already installed in your control.
What is the Max # of registerable programs a Fanuc 18 can support?
Currently I see Ooooo (MDI) + 63 for a total of 64.
Is this it? or can this number get pumped up too?
9923 bit #5 = 125 registerable programs.

Next time I purge the machine I will give those settings a try.
Machine is a 1998 Mori Seiki SV50B with the MSC-518 labeled Fanuc 18 (pre i model).
we just upgraded our 18-I to 1000 part prgs and 2560m
it required hardware.
cost about 3500.00 I think
