    Interact 1 ser 1 TNC145

    HI All
Iam a bit new to all is!!
we have an old Bridgeport ser 1 with the TNC145 control.
it orininaly worked ok, it was moved to another position and then not used for some time, perhaps a year.
when we powered it up it comes up with the usual start up screen and asks you travel over the zero points for the X Y & Z axies.
this is as far as you can get, nothing else on the machine will work, you can press the power up and cycle buttons but nothing happens.
I am suspicious that it has lost the paramiters out of the control unit.

does anyone know if this is what happens if the paramiters are lost and what i can do to check.
i rearly only want to use it to get some CNC experience, i know nothing about the machine but we do run a Torchmate CNC profile cuttter so we are not completly new to cnc machines.

I would apriciate an help please

I think if it had lost all its parameters it would come up speaking German. Is the air supply reconnected after the move? Is the lube oil level high enough?

    you did not lose parameters

you have a failure in the EMO string

    lube level

    limit switches

somewhere in here someone posted a wiring diagram for a similar machine.

first you should download your parameters to your pc[and here to the heidenhain parameter thread if they are unique]

First, are any of the axis at or near their limits? If the oil is not FULL then this is your first place to look

none of the axis are near the limits, the oil in the res is about 1" down, i will go through and write down the peramiter list when i get a min.
i have now found the maintenance book, i will see if has a wiring diagram.

paulvidgen, One more thing you should try before spending the time chasing wires. Did you remember to energize the axis drives? (yellow button at the top left). Once you press this button it will move to each axis HOME point every time the CYCLE START button is pushed.

    Hope this helps

Yes, acording to the book power enable button, the top one( green ) should energise the axis circuits and each time the cycle start buton is pushed it should move over each home point.
press what you like it does nothing.

When you`re on the ref screen does it show a feedrate at the bottom of the screen?
When you press the cycle start button to reference the first axis does an asterisk appear
    on the screen?

It`s that long since I worked at a 145 I`ve had to go and power one up to see what happens.I`ve got one here I`m repairing and unfortunately it`s come up with a battery warning.
    However,
    Turn on isolator
Pull out e-stop buttons (both of them)
    Press CE
Press Power on button (top right) should hear relay come in.Does it come in?If you`re not sure press e-stop and you should hear it drop out.
I will be back once I get batteries as I know you get feedrate and asterisk on 150`s and onwards but not sure of 145.

    Right.
You don`t get an asterisk or feedrate display on the 145.What you get when you press the cycle start button is a yellow/green led in the corner of the window to the right of the X axis display.
Make sure you have the correct overide turned up as there appears to be two on this machine.

    This is not rocket science

This is 15 minutes with a wiring diagram, or 6 weeks of wondering on a message board.

Apparently your enable relay is not enabling. That is usually because of the emo string. Chase the emo string and solve your problem.

Paul,I have a schematic in the maintenance book, but it won`t copy.British Bridgeport drawings are horrible things and you need a magnifying glass to follow them.
I notice in an earlier post you have the maintenance manual, someone torn the electrics out?
    Where are you near?
