I've Been Scrounging but dont know what i have!!!

Well after reading numerous posts i went looking around and picked up an old photocopying machine for $5.00(Australian) from a scrap yard. In side i found the following motors and i have not finished pulling it apart yet!. Photo shows 5 motors so far. Going from top left to right and then 2nd row left to right are as follows.

    1.) STEP-SYN stepping motor Type 103g714-1741, dc 2.56v, 3.2a, 1.8deg/step, 127k94530, lot no .07428, made in japan(sanyo denki co ltd.

    2.)step motor 127k94840 STH-54D403, 1.8deg/step, 8v, 1.2a, thermally protected, No. 26431, Shinano Kenshi co ltd japan.

    3.) same as 2 except for 127K80020 STH-56D309, 2.88v, 2.4a , impedance protected.

    4.)type 103-548-0250 127K94511 , 3ohm 1.8 deg/step sanyo denki co japan

    5.) Sayama geared motor , 127K94540K1 RB-35CMFJX6 2606, made in japan

Are any of these any good ?? how strong ??

In the Absence of any other info, you have the voltage rating, applying this DC voltage should cause the rated current to flow and then do a torque test by attaching a lever of a measured length to the shaft and use a spring balance to see what torque is required to pull it out of the holding point, this will be close to the rated holding torque of the motor.

IMO they are old and have a low power/weight ratio and are very speed limited.
They are however very useful for setting up a test rig to learn more about how steppers work. Do that, and build your own experiences rather than a kind-of-working
machine. The one(s) with low voltage rating(s) will be less speed limited. You can "supercharge" them by using a higher drive voltage. Search the forum to find out how.

if that step-syn motor is a nema34, its probably a good 250oz-in, I was selling some ones almost identical but a bit bigger and 4.7A that were around 400+oz-in

    Swiftden,
Do you remember the model copier you got those steppers from?
