    JOG not working

My company is beginning to use the Camsoft Pro units we bought a couple years ago. So far everything works OK yet I cannot get the motors to JOG yet. Motors work well in programs just no JOGGING ability using the keyboard.

FYI - INPUTIO.FIL and JOG.FIL are empty and the default OPERATOR INTERFACE reads jogging as OFF.

    Bohemund,

Most operator interfaces (CBK files) have a JOG ICON that enables / disables jog mode. If you don't have one than that CBK was made to use a different jogging method other than keyboard such as Joy Stick, Touch Screen Jog or a physical operator panel or hand held pendant that has jog buttons.

Even if you don't see the JOG ICON you can still use the DESIGN OPERATOR INTERFACE menu choice on CNC SETUP exe to set the keyboard JOG ICON visible.

Is that in the JOGGING WINDOW area of the DESIGN OPERATOR INTERFACE menu? I do seem to have it clicked as "visible"

I do see the JOG ICON on my interface. It describes the buttons to use to jog with the keyboard and has a single round dot in the middle and JOG OFF in red. In the JOGGING WINDOW menu as mentioned above it does not have the four arrows as pictured there.

    1. After clicking or setting to make the JOG ICON visible you should exit and re-enter the CNC program for the setting to take. The window with the 2 arrow keys should show up on the screen.

    2. If it does not then adjust the TOP and LEFT boxes that tell the system from the top and left corner of the screen in pixels where the window would be placed on the screen. Do this while on the same DESIGN OPERATOR INTERFACE jog window. It may be that the TOP and LEFT values are set to a location off the viewing screen.

    3. If you end up needing further help, please call in and talk to us. We would need to know which product and version you have.

I see the JOG window fine and can move it as well. I'm wondering if I have JOG turned off somewhere in the defaults which is why I'm seeing the "Jog off" in red in the lower right of the window.

To activate JOG normally I would be pressing 3 keys on keyboard?

ex. - x, ctrl, and right arrow if I want to jog x slow?

How can I be sure my configuration is set for keyboard control and not joystick or any other options?

    Bohemund,

Normally as long as the Keyboard JOG is visible then clicking on the JOG ICON will switch the words "Jog off " to the letter of the first axis such as "X".
When you see the axis letter you can change axes by pressing on a different letter such as Y or Z. You are correct by thinking that pressing the keys CTRL X , SHIFT X or ALT X for example would then jog. Slow, fast or by incremental distance.

If you do not see the axis letters and you only see Jog Off then this needs investigating. If you have a dealer call him to explain what you said here. If not we can assign you a installer if you have recent software. They will need your CBK file to load. If you don't have the current version we can offer this to you at an existing customer discount.

By the way. You should be holding down one of the arrow keys

It looks like the JOG image may be that of a joystick, just a round circle instead of the four directional arrows. How do I change to keyboard control instead of joystick (if this is the problem)?

As mentioned prior my JOG.FIL is empty so how can I write some basic or default jogging parameters for keyboard use?

We did notice that you mentioned the JOG.FIL file was empty. This is okay. Leaving it empty is best. It will use the defaults jog speeds, directions and axis letters this way. This is not it.

Also the default graphics for keyboard jog is a joystick knob that moves graphically when jogging toward the direction of the arrow key you're pressing on. This is not it either.

OK I got the motors jogging.

There's the JOG icon you mentioned, the one with a finger pointing, I didn't click that and had no idea that was a jog icon.

    Thanks for the help!
