    kempsmith #4 mill (horizontal/vertical )

    Hello,
    Sorry the pictures aren't great but there all I have on the computer right now I highlighted the mills control box in case some one can visual ID
    I hoping you could help me with some information on my kempsmith #4 mill . It was originally a horizontal mill and at some point it was converted to a Vertical mill by adding a head to the upper most shaft. I have no manual or information for this mill but it has worked good for me so far but now I want to be able to do more metal work on a steady basis. Unfortunately I don't think I can make it CNC both because I personally can't understand how to convert it with out seeing one n person and two because My machine is way past old I have several questions witch I will list below, also if anyone happens to have a down loadable manual you could email a link to that would be a great help.

    1) on the left side there is a drive shaft that connect to a box under the table the box has a lever on it....... it appears (I assume) to be a automatic power feed for the table control I have been consider connecting the drive shaft for this and running a separate 1Hp motor to drive the belt . I still wounder though why they would have disconnected a power table where they just a pain in the but hopefully some has experience with this type of machine and can help answer this before I spend time and money to reconnect the unit

    2) I know it is probably beyond both me and my machines but I'm curious what would is cost me roughly price wise to connect my ill and lathe to a low budget CNC system ?
    * kempsmith #4 mill set up as vertical ?
    * Atlas 12x36 lathe ?

    I found a guy on ebay who had a old kempsmith mill for sale and spoke with him on the telephone apparently his had two drive shafts and powered both horizontal and vertical so we assumed that since I only have one that my power feed for the table only controls one axes .. mite have to consider converting to CNC and know teh info is probally documented somewhere on this site but to be honest I just can't find it here are some many forums I get lost
    Is there any way to see if I have any local members to me in port saint lucie fl that I could ask to show me there CNC mill set up ups and walk me though doing it?
