    Kerk Chart

This week I just switched from an Esab CNC with PCM1000 power supply to a Hypertherm Micro Edge with PowerMax 1250 power supply. I have not been able to find a chart showing Kerf width for the Hyperthem T80M nozzles. I did find a reference to .0625" for 60 amp nozzles by a forum member but nothing from Hypertherm. Is a chart available or can someone some input?

How do I correct the spelling on the title?

There is no published kerf width chart specific to the Powermax1250...at least not one published by Hypertherm.

It is recomended that you do a test cut at the cut speed, cut height and amperage level on the materials you plan to cut.,...measure the kerf width, and then use this as your kerf width. The reason that Hypertherm does not normally list kerf widths for each nozzle, each thicknes, each height and each power level is because there are som many variables that affect kerf width. Here are a few:
    - Nozzle condition. As the nozzle orifice wears, the kerf can get wider
    - Cut speed. If the operator increases cut speed, the kerf gets narrower, decreasing speed makes kerf wider.
-Cut height. The height affects the relationship of kerf width as compared from bottom of the plate to the top.
-Amperage, power level, nozzle size. More power, larger nozzle equals wider kerf.

The best bet is to keep a chart of what works best on your particualr machine at your particular cut settings.

Hypertherm does provid suggested kerf width charts for the newer Powermax65 and 85 machines, however they are just suggested, and the above variables will always apply.
