    Keypad as Pendant?

Could one of those low priced numerical keypads be used as a jogging pendant?
Also is a jogging wheel, MPG, only used to over speed the axis to position or does it have a specific use? I've always been confused about MPG's and there function in a pendant arrangement.

I'm not sure what you want to do exactly. I use the Shuttle Pro and Mach 3 has a plugin for it to work. If you go back to first of Feb this year and look for Remote Controller, I explain what I can do with mine. I thought of the number keypad also but I think you'll like this much better.

Took a look at the Shuttle Pro over at Amazon. There are two types shown, one that is round with buttons on the outside dia., and one that looks a little like a space ship from Star Trek. Which one do you use ?. It does seem a better alternative to a Mach 3 Ready Pendant.

The pendents are just "emulated keyboards". I would just buy one that was made for Mach. I like the one from "low cost CNC", but his customer service SUCKS! Don't expect him to warranty anything, he will give you a song and a dance.

Monte, would a person need fifteen buttons. I not sure of all the capabilities of pendants yet. From what little I now know about the idea of pendant control is, that it is nothing more than , as stated by McMotorsport, an emulated keyboard. Well if that is true a keypad will work just fine. If Mach 3 allows assignment of function to key strokes, it's in the bag. All that is needed is the proper configurations and you're in, right?. I'm a hobbyist at this point and I think the MPG wheel is needed to speed up the jogging travel of the axis. I have time to dilly-dally and speed is not an issue. So to sum up, I guess a numerical key pad will be good for a jogging pendant, correct?

What you need depends on what you want a pendant for. Did you read the remote controller thread back in Feb? It explains quite a bit. I describe what I can do with mine the way I programed my buttons. I started using a wireless
keyboard......it's bulky. I can do things with the Shuttle Pro I can't do with the keyboard like variable speed jog with the two inner rings.
Listen to GER21 as I did and get the Shuttle, set it up, and get to work.

monte or Gerry, do you ever have problems with the keys sticking on the Pro? I have it set up so that I have the 3 axis controllable with the top set of buttons/keys on the pro and sometimes the buttons almost feel like they're sticking. In other words when I press the button for the x axis to go left, when I let off the button, sometimes it continues moving and other times it doesn't.

I followed the install directions perfectly and did not load the driver so it's definitely not that. Brian B said he was looking into it as I was not the only one that complained of this. Just thought I'd you 2 since you're very happy with yours.

Buy a Shuttle Pro on Ebay, for about $70. You won't regret it. Mach is all set up for it to get up and running quickly.
