Hi folks, I'm trying to create knurling on a solid without any luck.
I created a cross hatch and then tried every surface creation possible.
I am not having any luck. Any ideas?
The part is basically a thumb screw.
Thanks.

Hi:
Alot of the time a note is just made on the detail drawing with the callout for the knurl.
regards
That would be much easier! Thanks.
Solid Knurling is possible but because of the intense detail (geometry) that knurling creates, it will inturn create huge, unwieldy, files that consume a lot of your computers resources. The same goes for Springs and Threads.

It can be done.
Used Extrude Curve with draft to form single knurl point.
Translate and rotate to position correctly to axis.
Rotate with copy to form single row of knurl points.
Translate/rotate to form second row.
Translate copy to repeat pattern along length of axis.
Create Planar Surface caps on ends.
Stitch all to single solid.
.500" dia x .800" long.
4 mb file size.
Good luck

Bobcad v21.
I noticed that I missed a couple steps to make solid completely watertight.
I should have done a Boolean function to form the base of the knurl point to a cylindrical surface. Then it would match better when arrayed.
