Looking for mentor in Los Angeles, CA (or southern California)

Hello, everybody... This is my first post!

I'm looking for someone who runs a CNC in the Los Angeles area. I'm a hobby woodworker, and I'm planning to build a 2'x3' router for plywood/hardwood and (occasionally) aluminum, but I've never had an up-close look at a CNC router. Despite all the drawings, pictures, and videos I've checked out, I think a good look at a working router would give me a better idea of what I'm getting into.

If you're willing to let me check out your setup and ask you questions for a half hour or so, I'd be happy to bring your favorite beer and help you out in any way I can. Thanks a lot!

    Post CNC Club

    Justharry,

I am no longer in SoCal however there are a few Rockler Woodworking Stores that may be near you, one in Pasadena and the other in Torrance.
Rockler sells there brand of CNC router, some of the stores have a CNC Club that meet monthly.

I am not suggesting purchasing a CNC from them, just networking with club members.

Welcome to the Zone and Happy New Year,

    Jeff...

    Thanks, Jeff.

I know Rockler well, but I find that they are often hit-or-miss. They occasionally have cnc classes (using their light-duty CNC you linked to), but I've never looked into user groups. I'll look into it, but I'm not particularly hopeful.

I'd still like to find someone else if possible....

    -Harry
