    Mach 3 robot?

I just bought a Fanuc robot and was wondering if Mach 3 can comminucate with Fanuc drives and amps?

The controller is a RH, the machine is a S-420 F.

I have everything except the very expensive Fanuc software, and I just thought that Mach 3 could do it..

Not likely. Fanuc keeps all of that sealed up tighter than a frogs a$$.
On all equipment there are 2 levers...

    Red face Works.

Mach 3 will run the robot. I have it moving pretty good..

    Thanks

    Hi Pointcloud

Hi, I read your post, I just bought two old fanuc robots and I'm also interested on using mach3 to run them they're six axis and S-400 model (pretty old) how did you comunicate with tha servo amplifiers? Do you have a video fo yours working?

    Thanks

Look at linuxcnc kinematics it's better they also have a generator for its motion.

Lightbulb LinuxCNC, yes, but how did you get Mach 3 to work?

    Pointcloud,

I'm sure many would be very interested to hear how you got Mach 3 to work with Fanuc servos, let alone deal with the non-trivial kinematics of a 6 degrees of freedom industrial robot.

Many have been aware of EMC2/LinuxCNC getting some help and attention from PUMA robot users and we are all fortunate for their groundwork.

But many more will be interested to hear how you cleared both hurdles to get Mach 3 to move your Fanuc driven robot. Did you ditch the Fanuc drives and motors? Did you write code or add additional hardware/software to handle the joint relationships during coordinated moves?

Even implementation of LinuxCNC is not straightforward or works right out of the box. I'm sure others would be equally interested in how you got LinuxCNC up and running with your Fanuc. Speaking for myself, pictures are always great and videos often better.

Anxiously await to hear more on your journey.
