Machine numbers on cylinder 3 axis?

I have a 4.5 dia tubing and i need to put a couple of numbers .5"
around the cylinder. How do i create letters on an arc with out doing it in solids. We only have 3 axis, and we are using a small bull nose so there should be only minor perpendicular error. Thanks

This might be what you are wanting to do.As you will see the letters are made flat.
