    Machining a offset stepped pin

Im trying to machine a stepped pin. Like in the picture. I have both mill and lathe . I was thinking I could achieve this by offsetting the pin in a set of 4 jaw chuck on my lathe.
    Any opinions ?

    Yep, that method would work.
Do a search on the manufacturing methods for model engine crankshafts - there are several popular methods, and your part is much the same sort of geometry.

i seeing it has tapers and threads..

if it were mine, i would start off a square material... drilling centers on mill and make diameters between centers..

i guessing it is part of a type of crankshaft.. a pump?

Looks like a Harley crank cross pin. And he's trying to increase the stroke.

Ya its for my 2 stroke to increase stroke. I dont need the sides to have a tapper or threaded.
Think I will be ok to use steel l1214 for the offset pin?

No, 12L14 is way too soft. I would use something like drill rod, and you might even need to harden it.

I would use something like 4140 pre-hard or B3X. How are you going to keep the offset from turning? Even with the tapers and threads this is not a good way to stroke a built up crank.

Most of them are done by boring the pin holes over size and plugging them, then re-cutting the pin holes in what ever offset you are using. That way you can use a stock cross pin.
