    make helix

    i have a proyect to doing this week need make helix in 5.100 diameter 2 .oo inch lead

    minor diameter of the helix 3.988 any sugestion, i have a cnc lathe with c axis and live tooling i tought to used a milling cutter to rough and holder to finish or ball endmill to finish anybody have done this before attt

    geo form?

    it is solid steel 6.00 diameter (round) straight
    need make helix 6.250 long lead is 2.0inch minor diameter in the helix is 3.988 diameter and major diameter of the helix is 5.100
    my concern is hog doing this long helix fast and smooth

    your best bet might be lathe bit with center in tail stock if controller will do this

    dont you think is a log proces to lathe bit any other way to do this

    You can run simulation time but a helix is just a thread many small pass can be faster than a ball mill maybe or use just to start ruffing the ball mill would then have some radial-axisial support from the part itself
    and you know yourself there are many ways to skin a cat(unless your from PETA)
