    Mastercam Router Questions

Does anyone know the approximate pricing for the Mastercam router series of products (entry, reg. and pro)? From what I heard, Mastercam in general may be out of my limited price range. I'm looking for a CNC router package that is set up for large sheets (e.g. 4x8') and that will preferably do tabs and nesting.

Besides the pricing question, I'm also wondering if any software out there supports round-over and chamfer bit geometry. For instance, running a specified size round-over bit along some of the edges of parts. Any help would be appreciated...

I'm going to guess around $10,000 and up. You should contact a distributor to be sure. You might want to look at CadCODE, http://www.cadcode.com. It does nesting. Also look at AlphaCAM.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll do a little research on the packages you mentioned. BTW, I found out about the price levels for the Mastercam router series:

    Router Entry: $3000
    Router: $5000
    Router Pro: $14000

Ok this is a little off topic but what exactly is nesting? I hear it here and there but I'm not quite sure what it means

Nesting is taking a bunch of parts of different sizes and shapes, and placing tham on your sheet stock in the best possible configuration to best utilize the stock.

Ok, I understand, I've heard of the process before but I didn't know what it was called. I may have to keep this in mind if I apply for a position at one of the boat shops.

    Thanks
