Mazak Space Gear 510 MK2 – Z-Gap Height Calibration Out of Spec

    Hi all,

I’m in the process of running a full calibration on our Mazak Space Gear 510 MK2, and I’ve hit a snag that I’m hoping someone can help with.

According to the Maintenance Manual (Section 10-4: Adjusting the Profiling Unit), there’s a procedure for confirming the Z-gap between the laser head and workpiece. The manual states that the Z-height should read 1.0 mm ± 0.1 mm when the beam is focused properly.

However, when I complete this process, the machine consistently reports a Z-value of 1.963 mm — which is way out of spec.

    So here are my questions:

    - Why would the Z-gap be reading so far out if the calibration process is being followed exactly as per the manual?
    - What’s the correct way to bring this Z-gap back to 1.0 mm?
    - Is this a case of adjusting the Z-axis offset, or is there another parameter I should be updating?

Has anyone encountered this before or had to make similar adjustments? Any advice or steps you can share would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!
