Hello Everyone!
I am running a Mazak Turbo X48 1500 watt laser to cut everything from poly to stainless. The machine is dated but still functions well enough to use for most jobs.
My primary issue currently, is that the x-axis control doesn't seem to function the way it should when cutting rounds or diagonals. Any cut vertical or horizontal looks fine but rounds, diagonals curves come out with a slight (<.005") waviness to them. This also happens when stopping at a corner and traversing in the y direction, for about an inch to 1.5 inches.
The ball screws have been machined recently enough that the problem cannot be backlash. The servo/motor has been replaced and the problem persists so I assume it is a problem with the control aspect of the machine. The motor can be seen surging when the machine runs, indicating that it is not a hardware issue.
If anyone has any idea how I might go about solving this problem, please chime in and let me know! I would like to see this problem solved! Thank you ahead of time to anyone who contributes.
