    MC/Microproto?

    Hi!

I am fairly new to all things CNC! So forgive my ignorance!

I am using a Taig mill, MicroProto controller, and two controller programs: MPS2003 and TCNC.

I'm still learning MC v9, but I'm progressing well.

Here is my situation.........Mps2003 will run a MC .nc file, but it will not mill any arcs or fillets. The controller makes chamfers instead in both contouring and pocketing. I'm sure it's in the post processor/gcode or the Mps2003 does not support the "arc" code. I'm just not sure what direction to go from here! Where might I find a more compatible post processor for the MP controller?

I can't even begin to tell you the trouble I have had with TCNC! I'm assuming that I need to run a file in the editor, but even when I manage to convince TCNC to open the MC .nc file, the mill run is not even close!!! Again, I'm sure it's in the post processor. I have spent days on the TCNC's yahoo group without a remote hope of ever discovering a solution!

I'm still in the dark on how to change the post processed G-code into a usable file designation (other than .nc) for the controller programs................stop laughing! LOL!!

Until I can afford to replace the MP controller, I'm stuck with it! I love MasterCam! Now I need to learn how I can make it's post files work with what I have!

I realize the answer may be easy, but it eludes me! I need suggestions! Think........Beginner or Novice if you have a response!!

    Thanks!

    Hey AL,

It seems to me that your problem is the post processor. Call MicroProto and ask them what PP, from MasterCam, is most compatible with their MPS2003 controller program and see if that solves your problem!

Can't help much with the TurboCNC.

    Good luck!

    Thanks AL,

I took your advice and called MicroProto and they were very helpful! I was told of several post processors that would work. Only problem was that I did not have the PP in MC. They told me to go back to the install CD and look for the PP and instal them. Felling ....less than perfect, I did! Now, with the right PP, I am successfully milling parts created in MC!
I'm not so sure about TCNC though.................based on the many forums I have read..................TCNC may not be worth the effort....too many configurable parameters for the laymen! Maybe one day!

    Thanks again!

    AL
