    Memory Parameter Error?

On an 0T, I believe that parameter 901 among other things, sets the amount of installed RAM memory.

    Bit 1 = 120m
    Bit 2 = 80 m
    Bit 3 = 40 m
    Bit 4 = 20 m

My machine has Bits 2 & 4 set hi. Does this mean it has 100m or does it mean one of the bits is set wrong?

Is there a diagnostic or something I can look at to verify how much memory I really have in the machine?

Does the "m" stand for k-bytes or Megabytes? K seems small but probable, but it would be cool if my machine had 100 megs of memory.

I always though that only one should be set, BTW bit 0 is 320M.
M is for metres of tape and goes back to the tape storage of programs, so 320 would the equivalent memory as 320 metres of tape.
Most of these memory options require a hardware memory addition, in most cases, unless it is already there and just requires enabling.

Take alook at the MEM card, if all chips are installed then you may enable 320meters of memory. If you do not have all chip Email me at [email protected] I can help.

    Seperate Memory card?

I'm not sure where the memory card is in this machine or if it even has a separate card for memory. There are two separate controllers in this machine, one for back spindle and one for main spindle.

I just sent and email to you of the two most accessible boards.

    Thanks,

As far as I can tell, there is no separate memory card. And what I originally though were the main boards are in fact AC servo Spindle drive cards.

The main boards appear to be large mother boards with several vertical cards/modules plugged into them. This machine has two separate 0T controllers in it.

The two main boards are labeled "PMC-L" A168B-1010-0285/15B. They have some eproms in them and a nearly square grid of six 43256 28pin?DIP Chips which I guess are the RAMs. My units have two of these installed via direct solder and four additional EMPTY sockets.

Can someone tell from this how much memory these machines have in them?

    Thanks,

    John

    Fanuc 0T Photos (approx 600kb)

These are photos of one of the two identical controller boards in the lathe.

I think the ram memory section is at the top center, two over/under soldered-in chips and four empty sockets.

EDIT: Added two new photos: 008 is labeled "PMC-M" on the yellow edging. Board in photo 009 is labeled "I/O C3" on yellow edging.

    Thanks,

    John
