Milltronics Partner 1 issue – X Axis Drift

Milltronics Partner 1 issue – X Axis Drift

I can get machine to home but it will over shoot a couple of times. Once it is homed it will move in manual mode but it does not stop and drifts left to right. If I try to run a program it accelerates and Faults out

Things that we have tried –

    • Checked all the wires from servo to control panel
    • Changed out working servo glentek board with known good one
    • Changed out P.C. with known good one

We have also swapped the encoder and servo’s – Is there a homing issue between the encoder and servo?

Should the encoder read in E stop mode if turn the Ball Screw?

Check your DC (24V) power supply for the correct voltages, both positive and negative. Seems to be a somewhat common failure and can cause weird things to happen. I upgraded mine to a DIN mount aftermarket one from Amazon with a reset capability because I got tired of repairing the factory one.

The power supply appears to be okay 15 and 24 VDC. I have 2 machines and the working one will show the encoders read movement if you manually move the ball screws with estop on. This machine will not show the encoders read in estop if I manually turn the ball screw. When I can home it the y axis will show movement and works just fine and displays the movement. The x axis will not read and just takes off in random movements . You would think the encoder should output when the ball screw turns.

Yeah, the encoders should read, even in estop. If its a DC servo machine you can try cleaning the encoders. If that's not it, it sounds like maybe a bad encoder or a broken wire.

Check the voltage at the encoders. Most encoders run on 5v doc so you probably have another supply somewhere.

Good point. That 15 and 24V is supposed to be 5 and 24, I think. I could be mistaken though.

If you really have 15vdc on the encoders they are probably toast. See if you can find a schematic wiring diagram for your machine it should show the supply feeding the encoders
