We have a Mori SH400 mill that starts up with an "APC motor is abnormal" alarm, EX0774 code. It will not go into MDI or any other mode. If you have any advice, I'd appreciate it.

Look at the drive for the APC and see if it has generated an alarm on the drive itself. Could you state the control thats being used? IE: MSC-518 CNC CONTROl.

there is an abnormal load in motor . see the auxillary contractor/overload of the Motor Supply and / or see the ladder for the Details {it is an external alarm } also check most of the time this alarm is caused by the door interlock switches, one on operator door, one on apc and one on magazine, I had worked on Mori machines for past 12+yrs and this is common problem

Probably no contactors or overload realys for that motor. I believe that motor is called the V axis. Some were driven by a Fanuc power mate. IF it is power mate driven, it would not show up on the fanuc diagnostics with the other axis. As stated before, it is most likely a door switch, however if it is a power mate, you may have lost the battery in it.

Other things that can cause it
Pallet clamp/unclamp switch
Front foot pedal (shot pin) for rotating the pallet.

we just purchased a second hand Mori Seiki HMC model - SH400 - 550.

when we start the machine we get the ex0774 "APC motor is abnormal".

can you tell me where the exact lock was so that we can also remove the same?

also for the fanuc battery, can you inform the location?
