I've spent several days working with MC X3, and I obviously need some step-by-step education and tutorials.

I've read other Mastercam DIY learning threads, but I've not seen anybody ask or comment about these TechEDU books. http://www.techedu.com/Mastercam_Books_X3.html Are they any good? Compared to streamingteacher and epprentice?

What I've never seen yet is a description of each button, and more importantly when and why to use some function or setting over another.

What I really want is a mentor, but my offer to hire someone hasn't worked out yet, so I'll need to keeping learning on my own for now.

First things, call your retailer up and ask for a Demo/Evaluation copy for at home.

Second, join some forums and ask questions..

I started a forum at http://www.mastercamforum.com...join it and ask questions.

Or try Mastercam's official forum..http://www.emastercam.com...they have alot of info on there and alot of smart people on mastercam. Aslo, CNC Software guys are on there too.

Just keep playing with it and you will get it.

The TechEdu Books are Great. I bought them for a few friends of mine and we found them to be very informative.

Lokk at the Volume Books for the same makers of the books you are looking at. They give details on the buttons and more indepth detail.I like to give these to my students so thay have a good refreance book at hand.
