    yea I realized that after I already bought the board so im trying to figure out my options

    Why not set it to 2.5A, the max supported by the board? You might be able to do 3 if you add a fan.

    the board tells me I cant because im using half coils

    A 4 wire motor is the equivalent of bipolar parallel. You can use the full rating.

    even if its a six wire motor?

    A 6 wire in the half coil mode has the same spec as unipolar.

    I forget which motor you are using.

    yea thats why i was thinking about switching to the 4wire motors

    Your 6 wire motor is rated at 3 amps unipolar. Half coil rating is also 3 amps.
