Multicam 5000 Unloading Tool at the End of Cycle

    Hello guys,

I've had experience with Multicam machines for a few years but just recently started a new job operating a brand new multicam 5000 machine for a wood products company. At the end of each cut cycle the machine unloads the tool, which I don't recall encountering before on other machines I've operated. For most of the jobs I'm doing that is a total waste of time because it'll be reloading that tool again immediately when I begin the next cycle. Can you guys explain how to control this? I tried to identify how to change it in the cut file, but I don't have enough knowledge of the G code to go messing with stuff.

    Thanks,
    Wayne

Could it be it's programmed into the Post Processor? Does it do it on every file generated with that Post?

What Post Processor are you using? You, or the developer should be able to modify it.

MultiCam G Code (inch) (*.cnc) is the post processor that I'm using. There is also another Multicam post processor in my software(Aspire 9.0) that's called MultiCam G Code Arc (inch) (*cnc). I'm clueless as to the difference.

Here's a guide to modifying the Vectric Post Processor's. It can be rather daunting if you're not well versed in G-Code.

In the past, I've contacted Vectric support, explain your situation and Post needs and they have replied with a modified Post.
Copy it into the Post Processor Folder and be sure and test.

I've always found Vectric's support to be excellent.

Sounds like you need to modify the "Footer" in the post.

    FOOTER
The footer is the section of the post processor for instructions that are sent to the controller at the end of a file. These might be instructions to return the tool to the home position, switch the spindle off or switch the power off to the drives.
    +---------------------------------------------------
+ Commands output at the end of the file
    +---------------------------------------------------
    begin FOOTER
    “Commands”
Variables that are commonly used include.
G00 [XH] [YH] [ZH] Rapid to X,Y,Z Home position.
M05 M Code often used to turn spindle off.
M30 M Code often used to signify the end of the file.

    Easy answer

    Goto your keypad
    hit your Menu key
    Goto ATC
in the ATC menu there is a selection for enable or disable tool unload

you want to disable tool unload that should do it for you
