    Fascinating.

Does the Arduino interpret g-codes directly?

    Best,

I was wondering if anyone would use an Arduino to control a cnc router. I planned on doing that, but picked up a Xylotex board instead.

How are you handling the g-code? Did you write something to convert g-code to signal pulses on the arduino?

That's the problem I ran into. I'm still trying to learn the cad/cam software. I'm still having trouble with the tool offsets not working out correctly.

How many amps do your steppers draw? I didn't think the thin twisted pair wire could take the demands of CNC.

CAT5 is usually 24awg stranded or solid core wire pairs. It's a little small, but probably adequate for under 3 amp step motors and relatively short cables.
