I know, I thought it would help you out if you could use something else instead of laser. short of building your own from scratch i highly doubt your going to find one for cheaper then $3,000 dollars.

If you have a 4th axis you can 3d scan things i think.

What do you plan on scanning with it? and once its scanned, what program or file type do you need it in? Why cant it be a camera solution? They seem to have plenty in your price range that seem to work very well.
