    Just for fun... here is a shot of a guy moving a rotor for an 800 HP unit. It runs on a VFD at about 850 RPM normally. The trial weight used in balancing is 5 Lbs.

    HAHA! That is huge! What would that be used for??

    It's called an Induced Draft Fan. It draws air through the rotary kiln at a cement plant. The kiln is a steel tube about 20 ft in diameter and 200 feet long lined on the inside with 2 layers of refractory block. Internal temp is upwards of 3200 deg F. I check / balance if needed, 5 of these fans once a year.
