    Need Help/Advice

Hey Guys, I found a shop bot 48"x96" cnc table in the scrap pile just the table not drivers or anything else.Table is complete but the gears and gears rails are shot. I want to make this a plasma table.I was thinking linear bearings and lead screws but this possibly isnt a great idea. Can anyone offer up any advice? Thanks!

If the original V-rails are intact, I'd say use them rather than switching to another kind of rail/truck system. I've got a Shopbot, and the stock linear rail system actually works pretty well. Expensive profile rails will be more precise initially, but they're liable to get fouled by the gunk that plasma cutting deposits everywhere. (Think about a water table to deal with some of that). Lead screws have similar problems; try finding new racks and pinion gears that will fit.
