Need help with Corel DXF export

    Hello all,
I have Corel 12 and use the trial of the DXF tool from CandCNC (tom). Heres my bug. I am having an issue with text inside a box when saved as a DXF then opened in sheetcam, only the box appears. Tried it in AutoCad 2005 and the same result. I am sure its a missed step or protocol that I didnt do. So, I am hoping someone can help with a solution. Would be nice to get a response, copy and paste in word and have a copy handy. Im not sure how many people besides me use Autocad, I do like using corel, but hense I am a newby.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ed

How many obects does DXFTool report on the export? Are the objects Combined (operation in Corel)?

Try selecting all of the objects and do an Arrange/Convert to Curves then the export.

It should handle the text as is and the square.

Is this native text (e.g. Truetype font or Type 1) or something else?

Send me the CDR and DXF file and let me try it into SheetCAM.

As for AutoCAD, you'll need to use the Express Tools text explode command to convert the text to polylines before it can be imported into SheetCAM. After exploding, it will probably require some cleanup.

    Thanks Tom,
I do know it was a simple stencil font, but looks like I skipped a step or two. I will try it again tomorrow when back in my shop and do the steps I forgot/didnt do. I must say Im a much better fabricator and welder then plasma cutter, corel user. I should have learned awhile ago instead of wasting around 45,000 to the company to do my parts cut from a waterjet.

we have a new release that fixes some text related bugs. Contact me at the CandCNC.com (Tom @) address and I'll send you a new small file instead of having to re-install from the site.

    Tom,
Thanks I will do that. I figured out the Corel and the DXF problem I think. Save from Corel as DXF, then open up with Autocad and save as Autocad 12/14 DXF, then sheetcam would see it and I can cut. (may not be right but works so far) Cut some address plates today and a couple just messing with the machine small signs.

    Thanks again

The DXF from Corel through the tool should go directly into SheetCAM. Nothing in between. I do it all day every day. There is an import tolerence in SheetCAm that may is causing the problem but I doubt it. You can send me the CDR from Corel and let me try it here.
