Need help going from Fanuc yellow cap to red cap

    Hello,

Looking to replace a Fanuc 10M yellow cap with an Alpha series red cap (may move a rotary 4th to a different machine). I haven't been able to remove the existing motor yet to see the shaft configuration, but was able to get the number off the nameplate. It reads "A06B-0651-B011#0003 (2000M)" - I was told an Alpha 12 would replace it but I don't know the shaft configuration, etc. Does anyone know the Fanuc servo motor nomenclature - I'd like to price a motor before tearing things apart. Thanks.

The B011 the 0 normally indicates a taper shaft motor.
I noticed in the 'Other' board you asked about changing the encoder on a redcap, they are keyed and secured by a 5 or 6mm Allen head screw down the centre, they take a bit of a twisting to get it off the taper, but usually very easy.
They can be replaced on the key either way as they are 8 pole motors so the encoder works in either position.
