Hello I'm new to the forum......

I'm trying to get some info on cnc software....specifically onecnc. We are a small business looking to purchase our first cnc machine (Haas toolroom mill). We have a limited budget....as everyone. We use AutoCad 2002 software (mainly 2d drawings...but some 3d). I'm doing the research for CAM software and need some input/help. Being new to cnc machining and software it's hard to know what to look for. I tried the 877-626-1262 number for Onecnc but got a message it is disconnected or not in service. Any input/advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try the number again. They switched phone sevice and ended up down for a while but are up now.

Hi Scott,
You are exactly where I was about 7 months ago when I after looking at many Cad/Cam software packages opted for OneCNC. It was not the least expensive by far but still affordable and given the little knowledge I had on Cad/Cam it seemed to be the one for me. I liked the interface but especially was sold on the after sale promise of support which I have to give a A+ to them. The help files may be the only weak link to learning but given their dedicated on-line forum and the caliber of help that is available and available quickly, help is only a post away. If you are planning on making molds you will probably want to opt for XP-Expert, I purchased XP-Pro. There support, free upgrades, no ongoing contract fees and attentiveness to user input is a most definite advantage. This software is powerful.

I also purchased the Haas toolroom mill and am well pleased with it and Haas support.

Hi Scott,

What is that old saying? "The bitter taste of low quality remains long after the sweet aroma of low price is long forgotten?" Something to that effect.

Anyways, I just wanted to emphasize a different aspect of the point that Ken brought up about price. My point would be that OneCNC XP software is as close to a literal tool in your shop as anything made out of iron, and everybody likes "good iron".

Henry Ford is said to have made this witticism: if you need a tool and don't buy it, you will later find out that you have already paid for it, but don't have it.

OneCNC software has greatly expanded my horizons, as a small shop owner, myself. There is literally nothing I fear to take on anymore, that a 3 axis mill can handle. And I know I can make time and money cutting the part, because the programming tools are so powerful.

Hu, some more wisdom comes from you.I have read some of your other posts. You bring your experties and help to the thread but you seasoned it with common sense which is not so common with me. Currently I am planning a CNC router and everytime it growes I think of Hu "Don't make your first mirrior your last" Thank you, chris
