Question need some info on a stepper

    Hello cnczone community .

    I have this nice stepper made by mae ( HS200 2231 0300 ax08)
    It says Vmax 8.4 v and 3 A/ph
    It's a bipolar 8 wire motor .
When I measure one winding I get 1.4 ohms .
I have two questions concerning this motor .
How should I wire this ? series or parallel ?wich bobbins togheter?
Also if I would drive it with a lower current ex. 2amps would it work or would I lose lot's of torque ?
I have these L298 L 297 drivers that I would like to use this motor with , but their max current is 2 amps ( I think ).
    Thanks :violin:

Yes, you can drive them at 2A. This will give you roughly 2/3 of the nominal torque. If you are going to drive them at 2-3A you need to wire the coils in series. The L298 can do 4A if you connect both drivers in one chip in parallel.
Standard wiring diagram for MAE steppers can be found here:

Thanks for the info and the link John.
Maybe I'll try 2 L298 's for driving at a higher current but I think at 2/3 of the torque it will be sufficient for my project .
