Exclamation New to EDM. Crashed machine. Start Up procedures?

I just started on wire some time ago, and I've just crashed my SODICK 600 into a part in the Z- axis. Now, I've rebooted the machine as I was taught, checked the U and V axis, and am now re-indicating the part I had in the machine. I believe I have successfully completed most of the procedures, but because I'm paranoid, I was wondering if someone could run the official steps to troubleshooting a crash by me one last time, just to make sure I do not start cutting with an incomplete setup.

All advice is appreciated. Thank you.

    Hey there!

Crashing into stuff with a W-EDM isn't all that fun but you've covered the basic s. I assume you had to remove the part in order to get the machine to not auto-switch off?

If it's a "soft" axis crash (for example: low feed when setting the zero point of the z-axis) all you have to do is to reboot the whole machine and let it run the zero/axis limit search and then check the wire with the wire aligning block just in case, Exactly as you did, If there's no big differences in the U/V then you should be alright.

If it's a "hard" axis crash (max feed straight into a part) you will most likely have to re-align the whole top guide with the rest of the machine, Usually nothing breaks because most parts of the top guide are pretty flexible (At least on Sodicks'), But they will most likely not be vertically aligned to the work table/lower guide anymore, But you will notice this when doing a vertical alignment of the wire, There will be a huge difference in the U/V position.

Good luck and i hope everything works out! :-)
