Hi guys,

I know this probably old stuff to some of you, but I just purchased a older J model Bridgeport that I'm interested in converting to CNC for home/hobby use.

I've taken a few first steps... I've built a controller using the Gecko G201 drives and have that working. Probably prematurely, I've also purchased a couple of Nema 34, Superior stepper motors (350 oz-in)... If it turns out these are too small, I can use them on a plasma table my brother and I built.

I'd appreciate your help with the following....

1. Any suggestions or how to integrate the step motors with the x and y drives on the bridgeport.... Anyone done this that I can see they did it?

2. How to handle backlash other than purchase new leads and a ball screw arrangement.

3. 350 oz-in torgue -- speed isn't that important to me, but what's a practical lower limit for the x and y applications? (Don't plan to move the z at this point)

4. Any other help would be appreciated.
