Is there a chook for converting an *.obj file to surfaces or a solid? Or another way to import .obj files for machining?
Thanks

I don't think so. What is a .obj file where is it from? There may be a different option.

.obj file are 3D files used by:
Smith Micro Poser
NewTek Lightwave 3D
Wavefront 3D
IMSI TurboCAD
Autodesk Maya
tb-software 3DWin (to convert OBJ files)
Autodesk AutoCAD with OBJ Import plugin
SolidWorks or Solid Edge with OBJ Import plugin
is it a stl?

it is data from a laser scan, a mesh. I can make it an .stl but it seems to be to much for it to handle. I also have as a point cloud. I was able to bring it in as an .iges but its just a mesh of triangles about 3,000,000 of them!
There seems to be a divide between 3D modeling and cam, and this is what i'm trying to cross.
SolidWorks seems to have an app that does this along with DelCAM's copyCAM, but would like to do it with masterCAM if I could.
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks
Tom
What you need is a more common 3D file format like X_T, SAT, STEP, DWG, etc. ".obj" files are more for creating art not CAD.
