Talking OK the GECKOs work great but

    Don't laugh...

I'm running GECKO 201s @50 volts, my screws are 5 turns per inch with 1.8 motors. I was hoping for .001 resalution but it appears I have .0001 resalution.

Using a Qbasic test program I have to send 10,000 steps to travel 1 " hmmm..

It appears that the GECKOs are X10 micro stepping (I have them set @ factory default settings).

I have yet to find a setting to make them step 1 to 1

Yes, they are 10x microstepping. The only way to change them is to add on the step multiplier daughtercard that Gecko sells (which turns it into a G210)

Well after doing the paper test.. puting paper under the Z and testing how thick it is by moving Z up till another piece fit. (this paper is .0004 by the way)

I will be cutting wood and I think I need to upgrade...lol

Most of the control software that I am familiar with will do about 40,000 steps per second, so 10,000 steps would take about 1/4 second. Going to a 1 to 1 resolution is only going to reduce the capabilities of your machine.

With a 50 Volt DC supply, and a 5 TPI leadscrew, one should be able to get feedrates of 240 inches per minute with a 40 Khz stepping rate. Not very many materials can be machined at that speed.
