    Ok. I give up.

I am pretty new to this CNC thing, but I had no problems designing and building a 3 axis machine. The problem I have is that I cannot figure out is how to let Mach 3 know where the table ends! I've tested the limit (home) switches and they all work, but I just cannot figure out this part of the software. Is there anyone out there with a setup guide easy enough that a 6 year old can understand? (I am 46).
The controller is an EZ CNC.

    Thanks,
    Gustavo

Why you need mach to know where your table ends?

That's my point. I can't figure out how to configure mach so it doesn't keep on hitting the limit switches.

Why does it keep on hitting the limit switches? Is it running out of control, or are you trying to make parts that are too big for your machine? Have you tried setting soft limits that are inside the limit switch extremes? Have you read section 4.5 of the Mach manual, http://www.machsupport.com/docs/Mach...all_Config.pdf which talks about the various ways you can hook up limit and home switches?

Awerby's right, first set the soft limits, then make shure your job envelope does not exceed your machine limits.

Watch the "Homing, Limits and Offsets" video here.

I realize the OP posted in the Mach forum, but he said in post #1 that the controller he is using is EZ CNC, not Mach.

I'm sorry I am confusing the heck out of everyone, I am getting more senile than I than I thought. The stepper controller is HobbyCNC EZ driver board, and I am using Mach3.
Last night I watched the tutorial videos on soft limits but I'm still confused. Do the values entered as the soft max and min max are equal to the table dimensions?
    Again, sorry for the confusion.

    Cool Use the KISS METHOD!!

They can be any number you like, as long as the range is the length of the travel or less.
You need to setup where the end of travel is relative to the homing switch.
It is all in the manual.

NeilW20, thank you. That did the trick. It was so easy that I looked for the most complicated solutions.
