Is there a need for an organized attempt to provide DIY solutions to all our common problems?

Things like:

A- a good cost effective stepper driver - ala Gecko or Xylotex - But opensource. And therefor expandable, adaptable.

B- a good opensource DB25 Breakout Board

C- a real look at diy linear guides.

D- Oh - the lsit goes on.

Opensource does not mean you loose all credit for your designs... It means a real comunity movement to raise the bar on homebuilt CNC.. We can all stop worrying about saving $$ for drives, and instead make 5 and 6axis machines!

Well?
