    Picking points without chaining

    Hi,

We are new to Mastercam and are having problems picking points without chaining. Is there a trick to do this?

Also, when we make a program and it verifies properly, and then we delete lines anywhere on the part, the program already made gets altered. It will start at a different location in a pocket, and break through. Any tips on stopping this from happening?

Remember removing Geo used in a path will cause issue as this Geo is associated to the tool path.

I believe even if we remove lines not associated with the path the location of the starting point changes and the tool leaves the confines of the pocket where previously it didn't. It still mills the proper path but with flaws.

With the chaining, how do we pick the points along the edge of a pocket without chaining. I know this seems like a simple question, but we can't figure out how to just pick points and not chain.

For the record, I am not fully involved with this operation so I am not able to go into more detail for lack of info.

    TeeGate,
If you have a point on the screen just go pick it, you dont have to do anything special. if you don't just pick where it is you would like to start. creating a point first sometimes is easier because when the chain box comes up with the toolpath you just pick the point and then the chain.
