Hello,
Can anyone tell me an easier way to create a tool path for a pocket that shares edges with the part profile?

I mean when the part has a recess that ends at one or more edges of the part. You need to define 2 closed vectors - one for the pocket and one for the part profile. Every time I do this I have to use a cumbersome process with "node editing" on a copy of the part geometry where I have to create the pocket profile seprately, then move it on to the part profile...

Layers are your friend for this type of thing.

Stick the pocket geometry on a separate later called 'the pocket' or 'Jim' if you prefer. You can make the layer a different colour in the drawing view as well to make it clear.

(You didn't say what software you're using, but I assume vcarve or aspire? I don't think Cut2D has layers?)

Actually DOES it share the line
I normally end up with a pocket profile which overlays the part profile so that the corners of the pocket are outside the part.
Layers is one way of doing this, but however, you normally end up adding 'offsets' and constructing extra edges to create the different profile and pocket paths, so the 'shared edge' normally needs processing in some way anyway.
