    post/software problems

I'm using V20.5 and am having a problem with the post processer/software for the Prototrak age 3. When I program to profile the outside of a part using any of the lead in lead out functions the post/software always puts a G40 in the last line of the lead out. What this does is turns off cutter comp before executing the final line and machine is being told to use tool center for the last line. The other problem was that when I make a toolchange the post/software puts out an M05 before the the toolchange block, which is a modal command, so consequently with my control it will shut off the spindle with each line. Now my machine isnt a retrofit,it is also made by the same company that makes the AGE 3, so its nothing out of the ordinary. I called the tech support and after being interupted atleast four times while trying to explain the problem, I was told the spindle shutting off was a Southwestern Industries problem and the other problem was because I wasn't using the software correctly. The tech support told me what I was doing "wrong" profiling, told me how to do it right.Guess what? It still didnt work. Finally after being adamant and vocalizing the fact, that I've been using G-code for almost 20 yrs, adding, that by correcting the code it works, I was able to talk to Glen. Now Glen was very knowledgeble and better yet he listened, so we got the M05 taken care of (SWI problem?) and he told me how to work around the profiling problem, but it still will generate an extra move using tool center but atleast its not on the part. If I manually move the G40 where it belongs everything is okay & no extra move. IMO the tech support Ive experienced so far(except Glen) has been less than stellar, so I really dont desire to call them about this again and I dont want to edit code for each program as they said I wouldnt need to when I purchased the software.

    Any suggestions?

Call and ask for Chris. I think he may be the tech guru for you. If he can not help then complain to the sales rep. Tell him you just will not pay for any more upgrades or seminars until this is fixed.

While waiting test a little something just to see if it helps.... Go to the NC setup>driver menu. In the genreal tab check the max circular movement to be 1/4. This may at least get you off the contour before the G40.
