Anyone can tell me their technique to sand smooth the galvanized pipes and to clean the steel rods?

I just took a piece of 150 grit sand paper for the pipes. Is their a better way?

As for the steel rods, I was thinking of using Perma blue to clean them up. Any suggestions?

I polished to 400 grit used an old treadmil .... here are some linke to other ways that have been used ... I am sure I didn't find all the ways but this should help you ..

once you have turn device it goes real quik .. should get as smooth as you can mine still look great

i used the walmart 3M sanding wheel like this one. http://www.acehardwaresuperstore.com...86.html?ref=42 Took some work but it striped the paint took a couple of days. I did not polish my pipes as i found the bearings will wear the own track in.

my drill rods where like chrome nice smooth, shiny left them like the were.

Yes I suppose you can get wear tracks , I turn my pipes occasionally really don't see that they wore a track I clean the gunk ( rolled over saw dust) with fine steel wool look as good as when installed little over 3 years, over 20 miles on each axis
