Question Questions on Micromill DSLS 3000

Let me start by saying hellooooo this is my first post but I am not new to lathes and mills I have a Microlux lathe and a Microlux mill that I put DRO's on X,Y and Z axis and have a motor that is manual controled on the X axis. I hope to get a Micromill DSLS soon so here is my question for those of you that HAVE a MICROMILL DSLS 3000 by Microproto they say that you need a Printer port DB-25 to plug into BUT most laptops today do not come with this port so I was thinking of getting a adapter cable from DB-25 to USB will this work??? I have tried to contact Micromill but got no response THANKS for all the help.

Nope, the USB to Parallel adapters don't work. You need a "real" 25-pin parallel port.

USB will not work no matter what. The PCMCIA will work with some laptops, but it's your best shot. It's the closes you will get to a true parallel port. I will buy 2 of these cards myself (a different brand though) for my mill and lathe. You don't really have any other choice except getting a stationary computer.

PS. It's more important that he has tested it on the same type of laptop that you have and not the same machine. All the controllers for these type of machines are basicly the same.
