    Radan to Fanuc

    Hi guys,

I have tried copying a file made by Radan via a cnc transfer program to my Fanuc, but the unit throws up errors and looks like it can extract text from the file, but looks like the file is in the wrong format.

My question is, do you need Radan to transmit Radan generated files to the Fanuc, or is there another way?

    Regards,

    Mike

    Re: Radan to Fanuc

    Typically,
nearly all CADCAM software needs to have any "path" info that is displayed on-screen to pass thru a "post processor" to turn it into CNC control language

eg a drawing with toolpathing info saved to a file format of that CAD system CANNOT be then placed into a CNC machine to manufacture parts

Fanuc generically use a file with an NC extension, it is basically a complete text file that can be opened & edited in any ASCII editor
    - software that is capable to transfer that text file is required ( & configured ) to "SEND" & "READ" with the machine control
Radan may have an add-on to give you the ability to transfer programs ( link to other Google results )

    Hi Superman,

Never thought I'd ever be saying that :-)

I have set up NCnetLite for use in transferring the programs.

I have attached the file I have been trying to send. The guys tell me it's what Radan produced.

Please could you take a look for me, to see if it is what you would expect to be transferred to be compatible with a FANUC 6M?

    Many thanks,

    Mike

    Looked at the program
it is an ASCII file....all text
but it seems to be for a Siemens 840D control ...not Fanuc

    Code:
    N25;(MACHINE: TRUMPF LASER TYP: 1)
    N30;(CONTROL: SIN 840D VERSION:)
I would expect the code to start something like
    Code:
    %
    O1234 ( program name)
    .... setup codes
    ....main program
    M30
    %
Are you posting it using the correct machine post ?
