Rattling almost grinding sound with first tests of Y axis

I am testing out my Y axis for the first time tonight....
It seems to move smoothly, but its loud and making a racket! Its making a sound almost like grinding. I thought it might be the steppers losing steps, so i loosened the gibs a lot. Still doing it, could this be the motors itself? Or a mechanical problem?

If it sounds like it's coming from the motors, trying lowering your accel and max speed.

I had the same problem that you are describing too. My problem was the step and direction pulse timing. I had to make them a latger value, somthing like 5.

try that and it might jsut do the trick.

Also check your current set resistors are the righ value otherwis the motors will not get enough power.
