    Retaining tabs

    Hello,

This might not be directly relevant to SolidCAM but here goes.

Does anyone know of a simple way to create "retaining" tabs in SolidCAM?
Basically little tabs which join the part I am milling out to the stock.

For example when cutting parts of sheet material.

    Thanks,
    Sege

Try adding a sketch in the part which uses the profile of the part but has lug features added where required. You can use this sketch to profile the part.

    Hi,

Thanks, I will probably also have to do two seperate operations since I don't want the tab/lug to span the full Z axis (depth of the part) which is 15mm thick.

So I guess two profiling operations one on the profile without the lug to 13mm and one on the profile with the lug from 13mm down to 15mm.

    Thanks,
    Serge
