    Runaway jogging

I crashed twice yesterday while jogging. Y axis was fine as it stopped from my limit sensor but when it crashed on z, I broke a 60 dollar end mill and ruined a part.

Jogging will be fine, then sometimes I'll just go to move and she won't stop. Anyone else run into this?

Running ethernet smooth stepper, mach3, and the 2010 screenset.

Before I go and purchase a brand new pc I'd like to see if others think it's that. Even though it's definitely in spec processor, video card and memory wise

I believe that it's a known issue. There was a thread about it a few months ago I think.
If you release the shift key before the arrow key, this can happen.

What the hell, how can this be an unresolved issue at this point.

Ger, I did have a few issues with running away during probing. I'm using your screen set.

What it would do is touch off at initial speed back off then go to touch off again at the slower speed. In my case I tried like 1 ipm for that speed. It just kept going and going and going never stopped unless I hit reset.

Now it's not a high end probe. It's just a cheaper probe I bought from Arturo. So maybe it's probe?

What version of Mach3, and what motion controller?
That shouldn't happen, but there are some issues with chinese motion controllers, and version 3.043.066 of Mach3.

Switch to 3.043.062, which is the recommended version. It should fix the issue.

Thanks for the advice Gerry, I'm going to try Mach3 .062 myself. My problem with .066 is that Mach3 occasionally self-destructs after I use the cycle stop button a few times. When that happens, running a program will result in all axes moving in wrong directions, plowing right through the part. The only remedy is to restart Mach3.

I had that issue as well. Hit the estop and she stops moving....release estop and instantly takes off. Have to shut machine down and mach

Going to move to older version

    Re: Runaway jogging

Well, version .062 did not help my problem. Mach3 still loses its mind when you hit the stop button, sometimes even once.

Here is the screenshot showing the crazy program limits and the bizarre staircase toolpath (the actual work envelope of my machine is 200x200x60mm, and the g-code file that was loaded was about 50x50mm in size).

My guess would be that particular issue is a Smoothstepper (plugin?) issue.
