    rusting issue

we recently bought new cabinets for out tool holders, its a tall narrow drawer that pulls out and has shelves for the holders

Our ISO20 holders seem to rusting up like crazy all other holders are fine with maybe a small spot occasionally

Any idea possible cause or remedy

we use water soluble coolant with a refract of 3.6-6.3

    thanks

What are the recommended refractometer level from the manufacturer ? They vary from one company to the next and your concentration levels may be too low .
Are the holders being cleaned after being removed from the machine , if so with what . If they aren't being hand cleaned after use then there should be enough of a protective film left over from the coolant to protect the holders . Coolants usually have rust inhibitors and some are better than others . If the coolant isn't protecting the equipment then I'd suggest finding a better coolant

Also - where where the rusting holders manufactured . If they are lower cost holders (chinese) then the metals they are made from may be of low quality

A refract of 3.6 is too low for ferric materials. Check the manufacturers specifications for machining and material types

Alum machining requires a higher concentration than a steel.

If your cabinet is kept closed, I'd suggest some bags of silica gel to absorb moisture. But you should at least wipe the tapers before storing.
