serial to ethernet adapter on Fanuc 0M

This machine followed me home from the auction:
    https://www.machinesused.com/auction...mnum=846989990

It has a Fanuc 0M control. I need to connect this machine to a PC to do anything serious with it.

I was researching this and came across a mention of using a serial device to ethernet converter. Apparently this will put your machine on the local network. This would be REALLY GREAT for me it I can make it work

    Here's a couple examples i googled.

I am REAL WEAK on making this **** work. Anybody done something like this?

Did you get all parameters and macro's? Including the 900's?
If not the first thing you need to do is back them up once you have the communication working.

One other thing the 0M RS232 needs is to see the hardware handshake pin levels, either the signals themselves or the pins jumpered out.
It does not use them for HS but requires the signal present.
It uses XON/XOFF for s/w handshaking.

First thing I did was take a pic of every single parameter page, then install new batteries.

i take it you have not used an ethernet adaptor, tells me not to go there.
