    Servo size for this machine

I am a definetly a newby to cnc tables and I purchased this at an auction today.

It was a cutter used for cutting blinds and there is some solid engineering gone into this table. It has a vacum bed with stainless mesh. The vacuum table is split into 4 areas with valves controlling vacuum to each.

    Table size is 6 x 5.

Electrically it is a bit of a mess with the controller board gutted and the servo's removed. Encoders are still attached.`The Z axis has a pneumatic 90deg actuator coupled with a plunge actuator.

The plan is to cut fabric/carbon fibre/ fibreglass with this machine. I have a friend who is a specialists in lasers so ultimately we will fit one, but initially we will be installing a knife/blade

My question is what size x and y servo's should we buy?? Brushed or brushless??

I have been reading many post's and the Geoko seems to be a favored servo controller also.

With the breakout box are there types that have solid state contacts out as well as servo controls as I imagine we will need to provide switching for the z axis actuators.

Sorry about the picture quality it was extremely dark in the workshop and the slow shutter speed killed me.

    Thanks Jason

The photo's I have taken are shocking so I will try and get some better ones tomorrow.

The x and y axis are belt driven is there a rule of thumb for gearing ratio's. I ask this as I will have to add a pinion gear to the servo shaft when I order the servo's

    Thanks
    Jason

I have been busy reading lots of posts about servo sizes.

The control box has two transformers rate at 35V x 7.1A so I imagine the servo's
would have been sized to 245W.

    The gantry weights about 60lbs at a guess and doing the sums like 60lb x 1000ipm/ 531 = 112W

Is this a ball park figure or am I missing some thing??

    Jason
