    setting mach coord to zero

i have been cutting parts and would like to start using the soft limits. my crp4848 has no limits/homing switches. for the life of me i can't set the machine coordinates to zero. i thought that i should position the spindle to the lower left corner, set machine coordinates to zero. currently the machine coordinates are too large for soft limits to work. i have no idea how they were arrived at at this point.
someone posted i should move the spindle, ref all zero, click machine coord[red box] and zero each axis. that doesn't work. nor anything else i've tried.

    what am i missing?

The only way to zero the machine coordinates is to home the machine.

If you click Ref All Home, and then the Machine Coordinates button, all the DRO's should read zero. IF they don't, then go to Config > Homing/Limits and make sure all the axis are set to Auto Zero.

AND, I just learned, the home coordinates in the config home/limits must be zero for this to work.

If you mean the Home Offsets, then yes, they should be zero if you want to zero your machine coordinates.
Home Offsets allow you to specify the location of machine zero relative to your home switch locations.
